In-Stock Draekan Chest Holster for 1911 Pistols
The Draekan carries a 1911 high on your chest, close to the body and easy to reach. It keeps the pistol clear of your pack, coat, seat belt, and the rest of your gear while spreading the weight across the harness instead of hanging it all off one side.
That makes a big difference once you’re actually out using it. A full-size 1911 has some weight to it, and after a long day hiking, riding, hunting, or moving through the backcountry, chest carry is simply a lot more comfortable and a lot less intrusive than having the gun riding on your hip.

I don’t treat every 1911 like they’re all the same gun.
Barrel and slide length, frame dimensions, and whether the pistol has a rail can all change the fit. Each of these holsters is wet-molded around the specific 1911 configuration it’s listed for rather than made loose enough to accept anything that happens to look like a 1911.
The pistol should sit where it belongs, carry close to your body, and come out clean when you reach for it.
Full-grain Wickett & Craig leather
Every Draekan is cut from full-grain Wickett & Craig leather and lined with a second layer of 3 oz. Wickett & Craig.
That two-layer construction gives the holster the structure I want while keeping the inside smooth against the firearm. After forming, the holster stays firm and keeps its shape instead of turning into a soft leather pouch after a few seasons of use.
I build these to be used, not babied.
Every in-stock rig is rich brown with white stitching.
Harness that stays out of the way
The harness adjusts from both sides with simple pull tabs, so you can change the fit in seconds.
That matters when you go from a T-shirt in warm weather to several layers and a winter coat later in the year.
There aren’t loose strap ends hanging all over the place either. The extra webbing stays contained in the harness, so once you have it adjusted, everything stays clean and out of the way.
Secure retention without making the draw complicated
1911 models use a leather snap strap for retention.
It keeps the pistol secure when you’re hiking, riding, climbing, working around camp, or moving through thick country, but it’s still simple to release when you need it.
No complicated hardware. Nothing you have to think about.

This is the in-stock version of the Draekan.
Unlike my normal made-to-order holsters, these are already built for the 1911 configurations shown here, so there’s no custom-order lead time. Right now that’s the 4" to 4.25" Commander, the 5" traditional slide with or without a rail, the 5" Sig slide with or without a rail, and the 5" Colt with a rail.
