Of everything that leaves my shop, this is the one I’m proudest of. It’s also the chest holster I carry myself when I’m in the backcountry.
The reason I built it is pretty simple. A heavy firearm on your hip can be a pain in the ass once you’re wearing a pack, sitting in a truck, riding, or moving through rough country.
The Draekan puts the gun up on your chest where it stays out of the way and where you can get to it without thinking about it. For a lot of the people I build these for, their firearm is bear insurance. If you actually need it, you want it where your hand can get to it right now, not buried under a pack belt.
Full-grain Wickett & Craig leather
Every Draekan is cut from full-grain Wickett & Craig leather and lined with another layer of 3 oz. Wickett & Craig. I use it because it makes a strong, stiff holster that holds its shape and is easy on the finish of the gun. Everything is stitched with heavy bonded nylon thread.
I build these to be used, not babied.
Built around one specific gun
Then I wet-mold every holster to the actual firearm it’s being built for. I make these for everything from big .500 Magnums down to compact semi-autos, but the idea is the same: the holster is built around one specific gun, not made loose enough to fit five different ones.
Harness that stays out of the way
The harness adjusts from both sides with a simple pull tab, so you can change the fit in a few seconds going from a T-shirt to a heavy coat. There aren’t a bunch of loose straps hanging everywhere either. The extra webbing stays contained and out of the way.
Secure retention without making the draw complicated
Revolvers use a hammer thong. Semi-autos use a snap strap. Either way, the gun stays where it belongs, but it still comes out clean when you draw it.
Colors and lead time
I make the Draekan in brown, black, and mahogany. Every one is made to order in my shop for your specific firearm.
Current lead time: approximately 4 months. I build these one at a time. That takes longer, but it’s the only way I want to make them.

I live “off the grid” in remote mountains of western Montana. Not just bears, but mountain lions and all of God’s other predators. I have to carry when I go outside.
Thanks to the excellent craftsmanship in this chest rig I can carry my full size 10 mm all day without problems. No sliding, no slipping, great retention, and always right there if I need it.
And it’s made by a Vet, in America… just can’t beat it.

Absolutely worth the wait. Craftsmanship and quality are outstanding. I’ve worn it everyday since I received it. The mobility is so much better than my belt carry rigs. A lot easier on your body.

My Just-in-Case chest rig review.
I received my holster for the 454 Ruger Alaskan. First, it is a true work of art. My thought was to frame and hang it on the wall. Absolutely beautiful. I have used a chest rig for about 7 years while in Grizzly country. Two other manufacturers and countless hours on horseback and hiking with a backpack. The chest rig allows me to saddle a horse, get water or break camp and still have both hands accessible.
The problem was always with the 2.5 inch Alaskan; how it hung on the chest. Because of the center of gravity it hung grip out with muzzle pointing towards the body. This always bothered me. This holster is balanced so much better. The Alaskan hangs vertically muzzle not pointed at the body. Because of that the draw is much better and more natural. I find it much more comfortable for all day in the saddle.
The customer service went way beyond my expectations. William is a true craftsman. Thank you for a great holster!

I somehow stumbled on to this functional piece of art after searching for months. The limited reviews spoke nothing but quality. I am so glad I made this investment, because this holster exceeded my unrealistic expectations in every way. The weight perfect, the colors are consistent and coverage has no edge, the adjustments are in the right places, the threading is flawless, my revolver chambers into the holster with that same suction snap as putting on your favorite old pair of boots they don't make anymore. If you are considering it, the decision should already be made. You'll thank me later.
I am a big fan of Chest Holsters. Living in a rural area that has long winters and many predators, being able to have a gun accessible is essential. I can throw it on over my heaviest winter coat or cinch it up and wear it during summer over a tee-shirt. It has amazing versatility. The fact that once you have one chest holster, you cam add other holsters for other guns and use the same harness. Simple quick disconnect and your in business.
I was looking for high end leather holsters, highly tooled with a unique and custom design/fit for the finer guns in my collection. Nothing comes close to the Superb tooling, custom styles and perfect fit to your individual guns. Plus the ability to mix and match your holster with “8” different colors. “9” thread colors and “9”stamp patterns. I spent hours browsing the gallery and produce line that showcase his holsters and their many styles and colors on his website. Very informative and his holsters are truly works of ART. There are few “CRAFTSMAN.” left of his caliber. To have a custom holster designed by you and individually made for you is almost unheard of nowadays. It's just beautiful. The fit is just amazing. I love it that's for sure. I had to adjust it out a little so I could fit it over a light jacket. I purchased the Kodiak chest holster from the website. Ordering was straight forward. They said it would take 4 months to make and deliver. The holster arrived just under that time. It is beautiful and holds my S&W 460 revolver perfectly. Very well made. While pricey compared to the mass produced plastic holsters, you get what you pay for. My research showed the price to be in line with other custom leather makers.

I have a chest harness with two interchangeable holsters: a 9mm Ruger auto, and a Ruger GP100 357. In a word, this rig is SUPERB. The fit and finish of these holsters is top notch. The leather used is top grade veg tanned leather. I love the color options and the ability to customize my rig. I love the fact that I can switch guns in seconds on the same harness. I have the new version with the double cinch, and this version is super easy to get a very secure fit. This holster for me a serious tool, but it has also become a source of pride simply because it is so beautiful. I wish I could do a pro/con thing here, but really, the only con is that you have to wait for William to make it. trust me, it's worth it. I would wait a year for a holster from Just in Case before I would buy one from anyone else. With regard to cost, I feel that the price for this level of work is cheap. These are hand made by a skilled artisan, one at a time. Every aspect of the ordering, interaction with William, and the product itself was perfect.
Easy to order. Wait was long but for custom and hand made it was worth it. Fits like a glove. Plenty of adjustment to make it fit my carry needs. I have showed it to all my friends and family and anyone that has asked me about it I have highly recommended them to get in contact with Justin Case.

Amazing quality
I have this chest holster for my 1911. Quality is amazing. Craftsmanship wow! This is a perfect fit molded to my firearm. The fit very comfortable hiking or on the horses. Loved it so much I bought 3 other holsters and 2 belts for me. Then I bought 2 of my boys belts as well. The belts are so well built getting ready to hand them down to the other brothers and get another. Thank you for taking pride in what you do as it shows in the quality of your work.
