In-Stock Draekan Chest Holster for Smith & Wesson Revolvers
Smith & Wesson makes a lot of revolvers that are right at home in a chest holster.
Once you get into the larger frames and heavier barrel lengths, carrying one on your hip all day can get old fast. Add a backpack, a heavy coat, a truck seat, or a long day in rough country and a belt holster can start fighting you instead of helping you.
The Draekan gets the revolver off your hip and carries it high on your chest instead. The weight is spread across the harness, the gun stays clear of your pack belt and other gear, and it’s right where your hand expects it to be when you reach for it.
For a lot of the people carrying these Smith & Wessons, the revolver is there for hunting, backcountry carry, or bear protection. Whatever the reason, the goal is the same: keep the gun secure, comfortable, and easy to reach.

I don’t build these as universal revolver holsters.
Every one is wet-molded for the specific Smith & Wesson model and barrel length listed on this page. Frame size, cylinder size, barrel length, trigger guard, and the overall shape of the gun all affect the way a revolver fits.
That’s why I build the holster around the actual firearm instead of making one oversized pattern and calling it close enough.
The result is a holster that holds the revolver where it belongs and looks like it was made for that gun, because it was.
Full-grain Wickett & Craig leather
Every Draekan is cut from full-grain Wickett & Craig leather and lined with a second layer of 3 oz. Wickett & Craig.
That two-layer construction gives the holster the structure I want while keeping the inside smooth against the firearm. After forming, the holster stays firm and keeps its shape instead of turning into a soft leather pouch after a few seasons of use.
I build these to be used, not babied.
Every in-stock rig is rich brown with white stitching.
Harness that stays out of the way
The harness adjusts from both sides with simple pull tabs, so you can change the fit in seconds.
That matters when you go from a T-shirt in warm weather to several layers and a winter coat later in the year.
There aren’t loose strap ends hanging all over the place either. The extra webbing stays contained in the harness, so once you have it adjusted, everything stays clean and out of the way.
Secure retention without making the draw complicated
Smith & Wesson revolver models use a leather hammer thong for retention.
It keeps the gun secure when you’re hiking, riding, climbing, working around camp, or moving through thick country, but it’s still simple to release when you need the revolver.
No complicated hardware. Nothing you have to think about.
These are already built and ready to go
This is the in-stock version of the Draekan.
Unlike my normal made-to-order holsters, these are already built for the Smith & Wesson models and barrel lengths shown here, so there’s no custom-order lead time. Right now that’s the 686 in 3", 4" and 6", the 629 in 3", 4", 6" and 6.5" (including the 4" Mountain Revolver), the Model 29 in 5", 6" and 8 3/8", a 4" K-frame, and the 500 and 460 Magnums in 3.5", 4", 5" and 8 3/8".
